If you're considering a Maharajas' Express booking, here’s what you can look forward to.
Main Places To Visit And Things To See
1. Agra – Home of the Taj Mahal
A lot of tourists travel to this city often. It is known for its beautiful buildings made by the Mughal emperors. The two most famous places here are the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort.
Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is a white marble building. It was built by a king named Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal after she died. It is known throughout the world as one of the most beautiful places for its structure. People come from many countries to see it. The building looks different at different times of the day, like early morning or evening, because of how the sunlight falls on it. Taj Mahal construction also includes smart planning. The marble walls have colourful stone designs. The four towers, the big dome, and the gardens make it very peaceful and beautiful to see.
Agra Fort
Not far from the Taj Mahal is the Agra Fort. It is a very strong red building made of sandstone. It was used by Mughal kings for living and for protecting the city. The fort has many rooms, halls, and open spaces. Some of the buildings inside the fort have beautiful carvings and decorations. Walking through the fort gives a good idea of how royal families lived in the past.
2. Ranthambore – A Wildlife Park
Ranthambore is known for its national park. It is one of the best places in India to see animals in the wild, especially the Bengal tiger.
Ranthambore National Park
This park is big and full of trees, rivers, and old ruins. Many animals live here. If you take a gypsy ride (called a safari) early in the morning, you might see tigers, leopards, peacocks, deer, crocodiles, and many birds. People enjoy the safari because it is a good way to be close to nature.
Animal Protection Efforts
Ranthambore was a hunting spot for royal families. Now, it is protected by the government. The park is part of a project called "Project Tiger," which tries to save the tiger and protect forests. As part of your Maharajas' Express booking, this stop offers not just adventure but also a lesson in conservation.
3. Jaipur – The Pink City
Jaipur is one of the major highlights of the Maharajas' Express journey. Many buildings here are painted pink, which is why people call it the Pink City. The city is full of palaces, forts, and markets.
Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds)
Hawa Mahal is a very famous building; it is located in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Red and pink sandstone were used to make this entire structure carefully. It has many small windows with screens. In the past, royal women used to sit behind these windows and watch what was happening on the streets. The building is tall and has a special shape that makes it easy to recognise.
Amber Fort
Outside the city, this fort stands on a hill. In the past, kings lived here and ruled the area. You can go up to the fort by car or on walking. Inside the fort, there are large halls, mirror-covered rooms, and beautiful designs on the walls. The fort shows how people lived hundreds of years ago and how they protected themselves during wars.
4. Bikaner – City in the Desert
Bikaner is in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan. Even though it is in a dry area, it has many interesting and beautiful buildings.
Junagarh Fort
Unlike most forts, which are built on hills, Junagarh Fort is built on flat land. The walls are very strong and protected the city from attacks. Inside the fort, there are palaces with beautiful wall paintings, carved ceilings, and shiny floors. Each room tells a different story from the past.
Lalgarh Palace
This palace mixes Indian and British styles of architecture. It was built in the early 1900s. The palace has large rooms, wide halls, and lovely courtyards. Today, part of the palace is a museum and hotel. Visitors can learn about the history of Bikaner and see art, furniture, and old photos.

Mehrangarh Fort
Mehrangarh Fort is on a big hill. From the top, you can see the whole city and the blue houses below. The fort has many sections, including a museum that shows royal clothes, weapons, and art. The gates and walls are very tall and strong.
Jaswant Thada
Close to the fort is a white marble structure called Jaswant Thada. It is a place built in memory of a king named Jaswant Singh II. It is very quiet and peaceful. The building has nice carvings and sits near a lake. People come here to relax and enjoy the calm atmosphere.
